Protecting high value products with bespoke quality packaging

SR-TEK are one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of feed systems, including pressure and pressureless tanks, agitated systems and pumps. To protect their products, SR-TEK needs high quality packaging that provides protection for storage and shipping. They were using standard boxes but soon realised that there were benefits from considering a more bespoke and tailored option.

Their Manager confirmed, “Back in the early years, we were focussed on making sure our products were perfect but not really considering the importance of the packaging to protect them fully. It has to be said that some of our customers complained about the packaging and we actually got quite a high delivery failure so we knew we had to do something about it.”

The Challenge: Needing a wider range of better quality boxes

The boxes were originally single wall corrugated and bought from different suppliers. However this meant sometimes the boxes weren’t right for the products and there was a mix of box types, causing problems and delays. “We went online, looking for a reliable quality packaging supplier. We got to the ASC Direct website and it was easy to find what we needed.”

There was an additional reason to review their packaging. “One of our resellers got in touch and requested we provide our products in a box they could immediately re-use, rather than having to re-box. This increased our need to buy boxes more suitable for our products.”

Last year, we began putting kits together for some of our products to make it easier for our customers to get what they needed. Consequently, we needed boxes that could accommodate the different sizes and requirements. Jan was a real help in refining our needs, he advised the best six or seven boxes that we needed and provided samples so we could carry out some tests. That made it so much easier to know we were buying the right box.”
