Meet the ASC Team – Anna Mazurek - Sales Estimator

Working as an Estimator is a demanding role, requiring keen attention to detail and a comprehensive knowledge of production to provide the best prices and options for our customers. The team at ASC Direct must understand what the packaging needs to do so as to be able to suggest beneficial alternatives where appropriate. They also need to know about the material choices along with the extensive range of production facilities at ASC Direct. To learn more about one of our newest Estimators, we spoke with Sales Estimator, Anna Mazurek.

Where it started

Anna came to the UK 19 years ago after she finished university, “I initially came to the UK to improve my English but then I made lots of friends, met my partner and ended up staying!” Anna’s first job was through a temping agency. “Using the agency was a good way to start working in the UK. My first job was in a bakery, picking and packing the food products and after that I went to a furniture packing company. It was all useful experience for me.”

Change of direction

Then Anna went to Ellmac, an online children’s clothing retailer. “Initially I was packing clothes, but an opportunity came up to move into the office. From there I began working on the website, adding and updating the products and helping manage the online experience. I also started helping with customer service, assisting customers with their queries and orders. There was a lot of responsibility, and I learnt a huge amount about making sure customers got what they needed. It was a great job working with lots of amazing people.”

Anna was there for 11 years but eventually had to leave. “I’d moved to Bradford to be with my partner and so I needed to work closer to home. It was sad to leave Ellmac, I still keep in touch with people there now.”

Move to ASC Direct

Anna joined ASC Direct in the office performing administrative tasks. “Initially I was supporting the team by inputting specifications and processing orders. This was really useful as it meant I got to know the team here – who are brilliant! – and started to understand more about packaging and what ASC Direct can do. I’ve really picked up a lot of knowledge on the way.”

This job helped Anna learn about packaging. “This role exposed me to the different kinds of corrugated material available and the range of styles and formats of boxes. It also helped show me the kind of packaging people needed for their businesses. I learnt new things every day.” Eventually Anna was able to use this knowledge when she joined the Estimating team.  

Promoted to Sales Estimator

“I’m now in my second month as an estimator and really enjoying it. Initially I started on smaller quotes before moving on to some of the bigger projects.” Anna enjoys the creative element too. “I love it – especially when we can add value, for example by providing printing on boxes. Some boxes look amazing, one I worked on recently was for golf balls and it looked great.”

Anna is continuing to learn and help customers. “I sometimes take details over the phone or from emails and prepare and send the quotes. It’s great to be helping customers.”  

Outside Work

Anna’s passion is watching football. “I love it! I’m happy to watch any team either live or on TV. My partner’s son supports Bradford City, and we go to watch them as often as possible. I’m an Arsenal supporter and I like to see them play. My favourite player is Declan Rice.”

Anna also loves her two dogs and taking them for walks. “They are beautiful dogs and I love playing with them in the garden. I like to light up my garden too with lots of lights. It looks amazing.”
