Helping Belmont leather goods create the best first impression with stylish packaging

Oscar Brett, Founder of Belmont, was keen to make sure his ethically sourced, UK manufactured leather goods were packaged to show his company’s values. He approached ASC Direct for help developing the right packaging for his products.
The Client: Belmont
Oscar was on the lookout for an opportunity when he came across some beautiful and stylish leather bags while in Vietnam. “I’m always keen to develop an idea and found some high-quality bags that I thought would really appeal to the UK market. I was also equally keen to support British manufacturers and therefore chose to have everything sourced and manufactured in the UK.”
Getting the company off the ground has taken time, “I’ve spoken to lots of suppliers covering the different requirements from materials to manufacturing. This was a really valuable exercise and I now feel I’ve got the right products at the right price.”
Once the products were in motion, Oscar then needed to find the right packaging which would impress customers and build the brand.
The Challenge:
Oscar wanted to showcase his high end, stylish bags in an easy to open box which displayed his products beautifully. “I was pretty clear about the type of box I wanted. I spoke to loads of suppliers, but some couldn’t fulfil the size and some just didn’t respond. ASC Direct were different, they responded to my emails promptly, helpfully explaining the different options and how the box would work.”
Oscar is passionate about supporting UK manufacturers and wanted to make that clear to customers too.
The Solution:

Oscar continues, “I spoke to Jan and he came back to me really quickly. We spent time exchanging emails and phone calls to get the brief right. He couldn’t have been more helpful”
“There was a fair amount of trial and error and I had some samples to test to find out which worked best. In the end we found a great solution with a ‘pizza box’ style. There is minimal tape required which means the box looks great. It’s better for the environment and easier for the customer to recycle.”
To communicate the brand message, the boxes were printed in black with clear branding and messaging, making it instantly recognisable and delighting customers with their purchase.
