Sending a Box of Flowers on Valentine’s Day

  • Cardboard Flower
    22 January 2015

At ASC Direct, we know a thing or two about the importance of delivering flowers. This is why we have created a flower box that's produced for the florists requirements for years, assuring them with excellent quality and strong transport boxes. Our flower boxes have been ergonomically designed, with handles and air holes allowing the flowers inside to breathe and aid easy transportation. They have been crafted out of sturdy, corrugated cardboard, helping to ensure your flowers arrive at their destination safely and securely.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what presents to purchase to give that special someone a memorable day. The most popular gift which is exchanged on the 14th of February is a bunch of flowers, with 73% of them being from men and the remaining 26% from their better half.

So why is buying a bundle of flowers a popular present choice? The tradition of giving your loved one flowers dates back to the 18th century, when it was introduced by Charles II of Sweden. He brought the Persian custom of the language of flowers to Europe, which meant that instead of speaking verbally, you would send floral bouquets to pass on messages to others, telling them how you feel or to express other feelings (generally of a positive nature!). The red rose became the most popular choice, as the colour represents passion and love, but also has cross-over value for the sadder events in life. The rose was also the favourite flower of Venus, the goddess of love who contributed to the symbolic meaning.

If you’re a fan of recycling, or love being creative and crafty with the kids, why not create a cardboard flower, make your own flowers this Valentine’s Day out of recycled cardboard. These are perfect for young children to give away to others at school or to other family members.
